Back in the Bay

Hello World!

It has been a very long time since we've posted to the Avocado, but given that our family spans the nation again, it seemed a good opportunity to fire up the family blog!

Where to start?  Julie and I moved back to San Jose this April and in a blink, we have a new house, 6 months have passed and we are already into California fall.

In May, Greg and were our first visitors.  We spent the weekend taking a trip to San Francisco, a drive down the coast and cooking some awesome meals at home.

This past week we celebrated Julie's birthday with a trip to Petaluma.  Petaluma is the gateway from San Francisco to wine country (Napa/Sonoma etc.).  Cold in the mornings (40s), but right back up to the 70s-80s for mid-day. A lot of the roads in and our of Petaluma have been recently paved which made for some excellent road biking and an amazing day trip around the Marin County area.  All of the below were done within 24 hours!

After hanging out in town, we went to "Point Reyes" sea cliffs.  It was totally surreal.

On the way up we stopped at Drake's Bay where there is a very loved Oyster Farm.  We had the most fresh oysters!

Then off to Point Reyes which is a n ocean cliff that towers 1400 feet above the sea.  It was very foggy and mysterious.  Julie looks like a ghost from a movie in this picture we took walking up to the lighthouse.

It was an excellent birthday and a good reminder that even when things are busy, getting out and exploring the world is always worth it!  We're looking forward to the next weekend adventure.
