Three Day Weekend

Bryan's visit for the Muddy Buddy had him returning to Denver late Monday afternoon. Julie and I both took Monday off to enjoy an extended weekend. It's amazing how a three day weekend can seem like a full vacation sometimes.

We took the opportunity to drive over a nearby mountain range to have lunch on the main street in Santa Cruz. Check out some of the enormous Redwood trees we found along the way! J.R.R Tolkien must have lived in California when he dreamt up the concept of old trees and Ents.

Me: 5' 11''
Bryan: 6' 4''
Tree: Big, old and historical!
Some of these trees are nearly two thousand years old. They have a cut cross section of a tree and they have pointed out key historical dates that occurred during the life of the tree. Among some of these dates were Columbus arrival in America, Aztec and Mayan reign and key dates within the Ming Dynasty...

PSS--> Reminder...the 4th of July invitation is open to one and all....just let us know if you're coming so we buy enough burgers and beer! Fireworks start right behind our house when it's dark.
